Style: Layered digitally-cut adhesive vinyl on plywood
Size: 120cm x 150cm
"Tiles" is digitally cut vinyl mounted on pine 1200mm x 1500mm. Like its companion piece, "Porn Star Number Five", "Tiles" is based on a random photo from Google Images.
In Photoshop, I desaturated the photograph to grey scale then set a canvas of greys, creating a layer for each. I then repaired the in-between tones of non-compliant pixels to the nearest of the greys to create a matt manga effect.
I then exported the layers to Illustrator where I extracted paths for each layer, then exported each path to Cut Studio, where each colour was cut out individually on self-adhesive signwriter's vinyl using a Roland GX24 digital cutter.
