"Full Moon Rising" marks a return to a style of painting that I’ve missed terribly; Black Canvas. I didn't realise just how much until I finished it. The nearest thing I’ve done to it in the last five years is "Sleepless", but to me, the influences that fit more closely are "Midnight Silhouettes" and "Sanctuary", both of which were painted in 2004 and drew material from the novel Symbiosis. I really enjoyed painting this piece, which only took 14 hours. For inspiration, I drew on the character Zanaes from the Kingdom series of novels. I look forward to doing a lot more paintings in this style.
